Perfection/Too Perfect - Super Junior-M

"O tai wan mei ~"

These are the words being repeated by ELF all of the world right now. The song, called 'Perfection' or 'Too Perfect', has just been released by Mandarin-singing Super Junior subgroup Super Junior-M, who have just added two new members Sungmin and Eunhyuk since losing former Chinese member Hankyung. The track features a funky electronic sound and aggressive lyric separation.

- For the record, I know a lot of people are asking who the new leader is now that Hankyung's gone. It's Zhou Mi who has filled the spot. That's official. -

Although the boys are still fighting their thick Korean accents and my Chinese friends can barely understand the lyrics, the song is quite a successful track, and near the end of the song Eunhyuk and Henry share a rap impressively executed with proper English wording.

Although Kyuhyun received most screen and vocal time, the member who stood out the most to me was Donghae. He has his first singing part in the chorus, which was the moment I was impressed firstly by his handsome, mature look, then by his suave Mandarin skill (seriously, listen to his first two lines in the chorus, it sounds sexy), and then by his charismatic dancing. At first I didn't notice much anything but my bias Sungmin (and his incredible lack of singing parts and screentime), but then after a few times watching the MV I was taken by surprise.

 - I don't know if it's his famous gentleman's charm or his flawless dancing or his attractive appearance, but I'm afraid I'm developing quite a crush on our Lee Donghae. Don't tell. -

Like I mentioned, Sungmin's hand got more screentime than he himself did. If you're a MINion, you will like the Korean MV more since he does appear a little more than the Chinese. I'd explain this by saying that they may be testing the Chinese fans to see if he will be popular or not, but that doesn't explain Eunhyuk's adequate appearances in the MV. To make a speculation, I will inform you that a Chinese friend of mine from Shanghai told me she doesn't like 'pretty-looking' or 'cute' guys; so to generalise (= =;;;;), this could possibly hint that SM's being cautious of Sungmin's cute image. Though, I was extremely impressed at the way Sungmin worked the aggressive masculine image. He didn't look 'yes, I am cute, my aegyo can kill you' at all. He looked 'yes, I am sexy; don't touch me or I will kill you'.

The rest of the album is just as amazing as the title track, including my favourite, a heart-swelling ballad called 'Destiny'. (Keep a listen in for Sungmin's beautiful line at the end of the first verse just before the chorus burst. I'm not just biased; it's really a gorgeous sound.)
'Love Is Sweet' is a softer ballad, gentle and slow.
'Off My Mind' = this song is incredible. It's a contagious, sexy solo mix of Mandarin and English sung by Henry Lau, and I guarantee it will plant itself in every ELF's heart and stay there.
Forever.
'True Love' will make you feel like going to Lotte World and filming a music video. It's an upbeat, happy song with a cute instrumental and easy vocals.
Finally there's 'My All Is In You'. Sound familiar? That's because it was one of the tracks on Super Junior's 2010 album BONAMANA (미인아).

In general, the album has more than compensated fo the hiatus SJ-M's been on, and all the best for the boys in the future. Make sure to support the boys by buying the album, but for those impatient, here's the download link. Just download the zip folder at the bottom of the list on the download screen.
